Serious “kid at Christmas” vibes today. Nothing less. The sun is shining here in the UK and we have a 8:30pm kick-off tomorrow. Immaculate.
I guess we start with predictions. I’m going 37 – 14 Texas. I would be stoked with that. Ideally the second number would be smaller, but we have secondary concerns, and a Colorado State offence that likes to throw the ball.
I don’t know if I’m an outlier — I prefer watching my team on defence. I get more enjoyment out of 3-and-out and big sacks than I do touchdowns or big gains. Nothing better than choking out your opponent Nate Diaz style. Romping into the end zone for multiple tuddy celebrations is all well and good, but if the other team gets to do it too, it sucks the fun out of it.
Is this the best sack of last year? The patience. The hit. The celebration. the AUDACITY!
I’ve got faith in our defence. Collins, Broughton, Norton, Savea. Clout. Some big, big kids. Some firepower. We had a great rush defence last year, giving up only 2.9 yards per attempt. And I tell you what, I don’t fancy turning into a crêpe going up against these guys. But the secondary has to make some plays. Has to. We need to have a better passing avg. vs our opponents this season, or we could be staring down the barrel of 9-3 regular season.
What does the future hold this season? *Shakes magic 8 ball*: Grab a Lone Star and ask again later.
