Alright, alight, alright. What’d’we have here. Texas in the mother-f’n SEC!
I’ve seen some pride and passion in my time. Grow up with soccer nuts in the UK and you see your fair share of tears, triumphs, and tantrums.
But I don’t think anything matches what you see when it comes to Texas. Last weeks SEC induction pretty much cemented it. Did you see those dang fireworks? The, quite frankly, bonkers number of people that turned out?
The UT Tower beacon is lit — but we’re not calling for aid like Gondor. This is a show of force. Come at us with what you have, SEC.
I don’t think being in the Big XII was a bad thing. I think the logo is cooler for one thing. Maybe it’s the roman numerals being synonymous with the Superbowl and champion status. We spent a number of good years there — the last two I’ve been a fan included.
But, we’re not a big fish in a small pond any more. The haters out there, and there are lots of them, will say that we were never a big fish. Even if we weren’t, we sure are now. Look at what Sark has done to this team. Staying in the Big XII and dominating again this year would’ve undoubtably led to us catching “you’re fighting in a weight class below you” strays.
Maybe my naïvety is making the SEC a bigger deal than it is. Correct me if I’m wrong. But, to me, this feels like Texas is coming of age. And we’re ready to compete.
Hook ’em.
